AKRON, Ohio – Keystone High School and Hebron Lakewood played one inning of softball before the rain came.
Rain came pouring at Firestone Stadium on Thursday around 5:50 p.m., and it didn’t let up for about 15 minutes. But when it did stop, official decided to suspend completion of the the Division II state softball semifinal until Friday at 10 a.m.
At the top of the second, with the game tied 1-1, players from Keystone (28-0) and Hebron Lakewood (26-4) all ran off the field as the rain started to come down.
Both teams had scored in the first inning. Hebron Lakewood sophomore Taylor Sailing reached on a fielder’s choice. Senior right fielder Mickayla Malone got caught in a rundown between third and home, but she scored off Sailing’s RBI.
In the bottom of the first, Keystone right fielder Shelby Fortune’s RBI double drove in sophomore Morgan Modock.
