Report: Belmont wing Dylan Windler to headline predraft workouts Thursday

The Philadelphia 76ers need more shooting off the bench, so it’s not surprising to see who they’re bringing in for a predraft workout.

Former Belmont wing Dylan Windler will headline the Sixers’ predraft workouts Thursday, per Keith Pompey of Philly.com. Per Pompey, the Sixers will also bring in former Temple point guard Shizz Alston Jr.

The NBA draft will be held June 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 7 p.m.

Windler had his best season with Belmont in his senior year. This past season, he averaged a career-high 21.3 points per game and shot 54.0 percent from the field, along with shooting 42.9 percent from the three-point line.

With Windler showing scoring and shooting ability, he could be a quality pickup for the Sixers at the No. 24 pick. Windler has been mocked to the Sixers at the No. 24 pick in a mock draft from CBS Sports.

Along with acquiring a quality shooter, though, the Sixers also have other needs. They need a solid backup big man to relieve Joel Embiid. They also need a good backup point guard so Jimmy Butler doesn’t have to be the primary ball handler while Ben Simmons is off the floor.

As the Sixers continue their predraft workouts, perhaps they’ll potentially find a player who can come in and contribute immediately off the bench.
