New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is the biggest star of the 2019 NBA draft class, and it’s no surprise that he is projected to compete for some of the NBA’s top awards next season.
Per a list released from Bovada, Williamson has the best odds at -155 to win the league’s Rookie of the Year award. Following Williamson are the two other top three picks in Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant and New York Knicks forward R.J. Barrett, who have +333 and +450 odds, respectively.
Rounding out the list’s top five are Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland and Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter.
Along with being projected to win Rookie of the Year, Williamson is also predicted to be in the running for MVP with 50/1 odds. He has better odds to win than Jimmy Butler, Bradley Beal and Kemba Walker among others.
Though Williamson is in line to win Rookie of the Year, it’ll be interesting to see if rookies such as Morant and Barrett challenge him. The race could end up being close, with Morant and Barrett being two of the top guards in this draft class.
Some of the other players with odds to win are Chicago Bulls guard Coby White as well as Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. Porter missed last season with a back injury. He suffered a left knee sprain in a July minicamp scrimmage, but the injury is not expected to be a long-term issue, per Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
