Golden State Warriors assistant coach Jarron Collins will be taking on a new role with the team this upcoming season.
Per The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Collins will reportedly have a bigger role in organizing the Warriors’ defense. Former defensive specialist Ron Adams will have “an adjusted, reduced role” with the team. Adams is turning 72 in November, and he is reportedly nearing retirement.
“Ron is still going to play a big role with our staff,” Kerr said after the Warriors’ first training camp practice on Tuesday, per Slater. “Maybe the bigger change is Jarron Collins taking on more responsibility in a defensive-coordinator role.”
Collins has been an assistant on the Warriors’ coaching staff since the 2015-16 season, starting as a player development coach in 2014. He interviewed for the Memphis Grizzlies head coaching job in May.
